Procedure, alternate treatment options, risks, and benefits were thoroughly explained to the patient and informed consent was obtained.

Bimanual exam performed to determine uterus position. No touch technique used throughout the procedure. Cleansing of cervix. Depth of uterus was sounded to ο»Ώ cm (from 6.5 to 8.5cm). IUD was inserted to the appropriate depth and deposited by withdrawing on the insertion tube holding the rod steady. The string was cut to an estimated 3-4 cm length. ο»Ώ

Bleeding was minimal. The patient tolerated the procedure wel without complications. Standard post-procedure care is explained.
Follow up visit in ο»Ώ weeks.
Return before if fever, pelvic pain or abnormal discharge.
